The original 26 weeks are indeed 'insurance.' That is, your employer pays a premium to both the government and private insurers (although the purchase thereof is mandatory) in order to 'fund' this insurance. Your salary is reduced by the amount of that 'contribution', even though it is a violation of Federal Law to itemize it - that is, to show you exactly how much you don't get paid as a consequence of this force-placed 'insurance.'"
